Pigeons

Under Milk Wood

(Silence)

FIRST VOICE (Very Softly)

To Begin at the Beginning:
It is spring, moonless night in the small town, starless and bible-black, the cobblestreets silent and the hunched, courters'-and-rabbits' wood limping invisible down to the sloeblack, crowblack, fishingboat-bobbing sea. The houses are blind as moles (though moles see fine to-night in the snouting, velvet dingles) or blind as Captain Cat there in the muffled middle by the pump at the town clock, the shops in mourning, the Welfare Hall in widows' weeds. And all the people of the lulled and dumbfounded town are sleeping now.
Hush, the babies are sleeping, the farmers, the fishers, the tradesmen and pensioners, cobbler, schoolteacher, postman and publican, the undertaker and the fancy woman, drunkard, dressmaker, preacher, policeman, the webfoot cocklewomen and the tidy wives...
....Time passes. Listen. Time passes.
Come closer now.

Trafalgar Square Penguin Party

An invasion at Trafalgar Square. I still feel a bit confused about where I am going with my work - it's a bit amorphous, I don't feel that my illustration style has settled down into something instantly recognizable as mine. But now the Research paper is more or less finished, I am very happy to get back to the important business of drawing penguins.

Hickory Dickory Dock

Office Gossip

I have been picking this up, and putting it down again for a little while now. It is a college project piece of editorial illustration, to go with an article entitled 'Office Gossip'. It's been really interesting to work on imagery that I wouldn't naturally choose to draw. The birds, yes. The water cooler and office furniture - not so much. I am gaining a huge appreciation for the value of layers, for the purpose of corrections when things have gone a bit wonky.

R.I.P
'Sketch With Two Faces'
Was sadly removed on this day,
Because it was annoying me too much.

This was fun. But am being a little dull with my compositions at the moment. Will try and be a bit more adventurous in my next work, whatever that may be.

So much lovely snow in little London. I've had Belle and Sebastian songs in my head all day, so thought a Fox in the Snow would be nice. Mid way through making this I realized the sinister connotations of what I have done, given how the lyrics unfold. Mmmm... So much for making pretty things!

Little Griffin got his first taste of snow today. A lot to take in for one so young , it was a cold pawed surprise as he sunk to his chin and then scuttled back inside. It tastes good though. Apparently.
